Well, I've been letting God do a lot of work on me lately. I've decided that if it matters, I'm just gonna do it--No procrastinating, No excuses!

That being said, one way I'm living that out is by working out. I only worked out twice last week. This week so far I'm up to three nights.  Monday I stepped for 30 minutes. Tuesday I stepped for 20 minutes (sore calves and all). I also weighed myself for the first time in a few weeks. I had lost the .2 pounds I gained over Christmas bringing me to an even 139. It was nearly 10:00 before I could work out tonight so I ran for 10 minutes. I somehow managed to lose .7 pounds since last night. I'm at 138.3 which puts me back at my pre-Garrett weight. Unfortunately I cannot get into my pre-Garrett clothes the way I could then.

I told someone tonight that there is nothing more important to me and nothing I'm more passionate about than raising three godly young men. Ironically this conversation came a short time after another completely unrelated conversation wherein someone asked me how I do it with three boys. She said she has a hard time with one boy! (though she does have a little girl, too) I took it as quite a compliment.

The reason for my passion is in Deuteronomy 6:1-9(NIV):

1 These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. 3 Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you.

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.  5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Boy, did I have to catch up at work today! We have a lot going on right now. Surprisingly there is still some snow on the ground, but not enough to keep schools closed.
After work I picked up Garrett and we went to CVS before we picked up Caleb from soccer conditioning.
I got all this for $0.22 and have $7.49 ECB left.

There was some concern of black ice this morning, so they cancelled school again. They decided at work that those of us with children at home didn't have to come in, so I didn't. We got a lot of stuff done around the house and played games, toys, and video games.

Lots of churches cancelled today, but not North Cleveland. I had to call the TV stations yesterday and tell them we were still having the 10:30 am service, but the evening service would be at 4:00. There was a really good crowd at the Towers today. We ventured out this evening to do some shopping. We really needed new silverware and I had noticed a sale in the Belk ad in the newspaper. We got 2 packages of service for 8 with hostess set. They were regularly priced at $80 each, and on sale for $20. I am very pleased to have new silverware especially at such a good deal. We looked for window treatments, too. We'll probably go back this weekend to actually get some. We did some flooring shopping, too. It looks like the plan is to wait until summer to remodel the living room. We'll tear down the paneling and paint the drywall, then replace the carpet.
We also decided on a name for the puppy. He's 9 weeks old tomorrow.

2010 01 30 MORE SNOW

We never get enough snow to make a snowman. Caleb stayed outside for hours. He was soaked.

Schools closed early today due to an impending snow storm. They sent out phone trees saying they were closing immediately and we needed to pick up the kids. My office closed at 1:00 since schools closed. Dewayne had class so we all had the afternoon at home together. Our friends decided not to brave the weather. The roads did get pretty bad. The boys had a good time, though.

Garrett even got in on the fun. He manged to find his swim trunks in the top drawer and change his clothes all by himself. He convinced his daddy to get in with him and he did NOT want to get out.

I picked up Garrett first today because it was Caleb's first day of soccer conditioning. I have never seen Caleb's face so red or seen it stay red for so long. They basically ran from 3:30-5:15. He was VERY tired. Dewayne got off work around the same time I did, so he and Sam were home when Caleb and Garrett and I arrived. Garrett did not want to come in the house and my hands were full, so I came in without him. I was going to go outside and get him until I realized he had a pretty good reason for staying outside. I was totally shocked. You can guess day what Monday is in Gruber World by looking at the pictures (I had some technical diffulty with the camera).

I wonder how long this will last...

Saturday was pajama day in Gruber World!
Sunday was a rainy day in Gruber World.

I'd love to blame this on the rain{cue Milli Vanilli}, but these are pictures of Garrett's favorite new pastime. He likes to dump out as much as possible. You can't see it here, but he also likes to pull blankets out of his closet and attempt to sleep in the stuffed animal toybox that lives in it.

Wednesday, Dewayne took the day off work to take Caleb to his checkup with the orthopedic surgeon.  We were a bit anxious about the appointment, but received all good news. She said 1) the pectus excavatum is just in the cartilage and not the bones, 2) if he needs surgery it won't be for a couple of years, 3) he might have worse growing pains in that area than other kids, but it's treatable with anti-inflammatories.
Since he already was going to miss school and Dewayne was already off work, I scheduled his sports physical for the afternoon. He's in excellent health and is only 4 1/2 inches shorter than I am.

We got quite a scare on Thursday. Two tornadoes touched down on Monteagle. One was right behind the nursing home my dad live in.
