We are down to 5 dogs. Dewayne was able to find homes for 2 of puppies with customers at Tractor Supply. Before he left to take them, we decided we would keep one of them to replace Precious. As soon as we decide on a name, I'll post a picture. I did take this picture of the princesses on the back of the couch while Dewayne and the big boys were out.
2010 01 15 Friday Friends
Well, we are down to 7 dogs. Our next door neighbor picked up one of the puppies a couple of days ago. Unfortunately the other one we lost was Precious. We have had her since right after we moved in the house, which is nearly 8 years now. We had to make the difficult decision to put her down.
We had the Stricklands over for the evening. Summer made open faced turkey sandwiches which were very yummy. We talked for a while and played cards. Dewayne said he couldn't remember the last time he had laughed that hard. We had a great time.

Well, I have finally decided to be on the Encounter team. We had our first meeting tonight, so I left it up to Dewayne and the boys to clean the house in preparation for our Friday Friends. They did a great job. It relieved a great deal of pressure from me. It was a pretty rough day, though. We received an update on my dad's weight loss. It's now 41 pounds in 4 months. He's down to 150 lbs and they don't know why. He eats everything they give him and drinks his nutrition shakes. They are going to increase his food and shakes and see if it helps. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now.

I began a new Beth Moore study at church entitled "Believing God." I'm grateful that Nelda George is the main facilitator this time. It looks like it's going to be a fantastic series. After church I watched the Atlanta auditions of American Idol. This was one of my favorite auditions: Pants on the Ground. I also enjoyed the sweet girl from Vonore, TN which is very close to us and the girl from Rockmart, GA which is near my hometown.

The boys and I went back to work and school today after our snow-induced long weekend. The boys got their report cards. They have forbidden me from telling their exact grades on the blog, but suffice it to say we are very proud of them. I am pleased that our favorite tv shows are coming back on the air with new episodes. Last night "Chuck" returned. Tonight I'm looking forward to the return of "House." "Fringe" returns and I like it ok, too. Of course we'll have to watch "Heroes," as well. I'm very thankful for DVR.
This wreath is the last of my Christmas decorations. I took it down today. :(
Oh, and I'm very excited to have my first follower. Yaay, Summer!
Who God Isn't
I did this devotion a while back and it was very well received so I thought I would share it here. It is important to know who God is, but it can be very telling to know who God is not and what He will never do. For one thing, it keeps us from blaming Him when He doesn't deserve it. It certainly enhances our perspective of Him and our relationship with Him. I have listed Scriptures that describe who God is not and what He will never do.
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
1 Corinthians 14:33a
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.
Hebrews 6:10
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Hebrews 11:16
Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Psalm 94:14
For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
Deuteronomy 4:31
For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.
Deuteronomy 7:15
The LORD will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you.
Isaiah 40:28
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
Hebrews 6:10
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

Our next door neighbor took one of the puppies today. So now we are down to 8 dogs, which is twice as many as I intend for us to end up with. They are 6 weeks old tomorrow, so we must find them homes right away.
Sam asked us earlier, "What did Tennessee?" The answer: "The same thing Arkansas."
I sent Garrett to get his pajamas from his room. After some time he came back to me and announced, "I got them on." I was rather proud of him. He also put his coat on all by himself earlier today.
